The Story

Founded in 1962 by Dr. Ted Atkinson, a respected research scientist, the winery began as Summerland Sweets, focusing on natural candy and snacks made from local fruits. Today, managed by Dr. Atkinson's descendants and led by general manager Len Filek, the family legacy continues with an expanded range including gourmet conserves and fruit syrups. With around 20,000 visitors annually, the company saw the perfect opportunity to venture into winemaking, thus Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery was born.

The Wines

Table Wines

At Sleeping Giant, they proudly offer 19 table wines ranging from dry to sweet, perfect for any palate or pairing. The wines, such as the tangy Raspberry Wine and the smooth Strawberry-Rhubarb Wine, are made from BC-grown fruits, capturing the natural essence of the region. These wines are versatile, enjoyable on their own, or mixed into cocktails like martinis or sangria. The price point for the table wines, such as the Cherry Wine and Peach Wine, starts at $17, making them accessible for all.

Sparkling Wines

The sparkling wines are a must-try, especially during the warmer months. Favourites like the Cran Raspberry and Peach Sparkling Wines are often sold out due to popular demand, each priced at $23. Dessert Wines

Sleeping Giant is also known for its exquisite dessert wines, which include unique flavours like Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pie Dessert Wine, both priced at $21.
