The Festival of Lights is an annual event in downtown Summerland that kicks off the winter season. It features music on two different stages with local entertainers, a beverage tent for sampling local wines, ciders, and spirits, and a family fun zone. Light up the Arts is an art and gift sale showcasing original handmade creations at the George Ryga Arts Centre. Offerings include unique gifts such as local interest books, artisanal foods, handcrafted soaps, jewellery, paintings, art prints, and cards. The festival kicks off with a Santa procession at 5 pm, followed by the lighting of the downtown core at 7 pm, and concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 8:30 pm. During the evening of Nov. 29, a free shuttle bus service will be in place to move people to and from downtown, at two key parking locations.
The opening band will be Blues Town at 5:45-6:45 pm
The headline act is The Young ’Uns, from Kelowna at 7:15-8:15 pm
At the family stage, choirs and bands from Giant’s Head Elementary School, Trout Creek Elementary School, and Unisus School will participate. Silly of the Valley, In House Performing Arts Vocal Class, Emily McDonald School of Dance and Summerland Singers and Players will also perform.
